Is St. Joseph’s accredited?
Yes! We are proud to announce that Medicare awarded St. Joseph’s a 4-star quality rating based on the health inspection, staffing, and quality measures.

What insurance do you accept?
St. Joseph’s accepts Medicare, MaineCare, managed care, commercial insurances, Medicare replacement, and private pay.
Is there someone I can talk with to help me make sense of the financial piece?

Do you have a doctor at St. Joseph’s?
Yes, we have a doctor and a nurse practitioner here five days a week. We also have an RN onsite 24/7, as well as access to physicians on-call.
Who will be my loved one’s advocate?
Each of our residents is well cared for by the entire staff. If you would like to discuss any of the particulars of your family member, please call our Social Service Director, Rachel Loubier at 207-797-0600.
What’s your staffing ratio?
St. Joseph’s is proud that we always staff above Maine state requirements.
Are rehabilitation services available to everyone?
Yes. We offer PT/OT/Speech therapies in-house each day.
What about your food?
We make every effort to accommodate the likes and dislikes of each resident. Our experienced chef likes to know favorite foods and what constitutes a special treat so he can prepare them.

Can I call to check on my family member anytime?
Absolutely. Call us anytime — even if you wake up in the middle of the night and want to know how your mother is doing. Just call, we’ll be here and happy to speak with you.
What kind of care is available at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation & Residence?
St. Joseph’s offers skilled short-term rehabilitation, long-term nursing care, and memory care.
What’s the difference between skilled rehabilitation and long-term care?
Skilled rehabilitation is typically a short-term stay involving various therapies, such as daily physical, occupational, or speech therapies as well as management of acute nursing needs, including IV therapy, wound care,and complex medical diagnosis.
How do you know when it’s time?
Both medical and personal care needs have become too great to handle at home or in another senior living community. This may be due to a recent hospitalization, or a chronic illness which has gradually become worse. Or you need a higher level of care temporarily after a hospitalization.
Who will take care of me or my loved one while I’m at St. Joseph’s.
St. Joseph’s has 24/7 nursing and C.N.A. care as well as an on-site Physician (MD) and Nurse Practitioner (NP).
What can I or my loved one bring with me?
St. Joseph’s provides all needed furniture including bed, closet, nightstand, etc. We encourage you to bring belongings that make you feel at home, such as photos, knickknacks, or a favorite bedspread. Especially for short-term rehabilitation stays, patients should bring comfortable non-skid shoes and workout/comfortable clothes to wear during therapy sessions.
Are there social activities?

How do I pay for my stay?
Following a qualifying hospital stay, patients can access their Medicare or Managed Care benefits. St. Joseph’s also accepts Mainecare (Medicaid), Commercial Insurance, and Private Pay. For more information, please contact Sonya Thibeau, Director of Admissions at 797-0600 ext. 2170.
Do you allow pet visits?
Yes, we allow and encourage pet visits (after verifying necessary immunizations).
Do you have to be Catholic to stay at St. Joseph’s?
No. St. Joseph’s accepts patients of all denominations and faiths. St. Joseph’s has a Pastoral Care department, which supports the spiritual needs of all.
